Martin (p428).-The life here printed was prefixed to the edition of Huskisson's Speeches. - 'a few copies were printed separately for private circulation'. Dobell P.23. Huskisson had the dubious distinction of being the first fatality on the public railway when he was run down by Stephenson's Rocket on 15/9/1830.His death and funeral caused the opening of the railway to be widely reported, significantly to the world-wide awareness of a new cheap and rapid form of long-distance transport.
